But there are so many other elements to consider. ![]() SP: A lot of people have said, "What genre would you consider the book?" And I think on its surface, and when you find it in a bookstore, it's probably going to be under historical fiction. ![]() KJ: That's the real crime! I feel like your novel is in this juicy Venn diagram of murder mystery and women's empowerment. That was really the first seed of the idea, and I stuck with it from there. When I set out to write this book I really wanted to develop something original, and I couldn't think of any books out on the market that were about poisonous apothecaries in 18th-century London.
